If you need food
Food is distributed free of charge to
individuals at the Southeast Alaska Food Bank (SEAFB) on Saturday mornings
starting at 8:30 a.m. until approximately 9:30 a.m., or however long
it takes to distribute all of the food that is available that week.
It is recommended that those who are in need
of food show up right at 8:30 a.m., for the best selection.
Perishable foods such as milk, bread and
produce are distributed, and the selection often varies from week to week.
Please bring your own grocery bags or boxes,
as we don't always have extras left over from the prior week.
On a typical Saturday, we hand out food to
anywhere from 10 to 40 people, and we give out anywhere from 500 to 2200
pounds of food, depending upon how much food we have to hand out, and the
demand for these items.
We do not charge for this service, and we do
not ask individuals to fill out any paperwork or show any identification.
All we ask is that those who take food use what they take. |

These Saturday giveaways are made possible
because of a core group of very dedicated volunteers who selflessly donate
their time to serve those who might otherwise go without. They
include Judy Brown, Nancy VanBuskirk, and Nancy Bauman. If you know
them, or happen to bump into them, please take a minute to thank them for
the very valuable service that they provide to the community.
